Meet some more of our amazing authors at Cleveland ConCoction 2025!!! Weston Kincade writes character-driven fantasy, paranormal, and horror novels that stretch the boundaries of imagination, and often genres. His current series include the A Life of Death trilogy and the Priors. Cindy A. Matthews is a freelance writer/editor. She and her husband Adrian J. Matthews are co-creators of the BloodDark Series which is aimed at the YA/NA audience and set on a tidally-locked world filled with vampiric aliens. David F. Balog was born, raised, and still lives in the Greater Cleveland area with his cat. He grew up in the libraries of Lakewood and Parma, and his babysitters were the creatures of the Cleveland Aquarium. Ever inquisitive, he dove deeply into science, paranormal studies, mathematics, and mythology at an early age, and never let go of the idea that they, and other studies, were all tightly connected. Evan Dicken grew up in one of those Midwestern, rust belt towns that form the fodder for so many coming-of-age stories. He studied Psychology, History, and Biology at Ohio University, and received his M.A. in East Asian History from the Ohio State University, after which he spent more than a little time in Japan. Your Fandom Escape by the Lake Why DEI is important: “Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations” - Vulcan Philosophy There’s been a lot of talk in the news about DEI programs lately, and we wanted to let you know that Cleveland ConCoction is a DEI-heavy organization. We have Dragons, Elves, and Ichthyocentaurs; Death-Rays, Empaths, and Ion-Drives; and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as well. As a fan-run Sci-FI/Fantasy con, we love to explore a whole multiverse of possibilities, and we want to make sure all of our ConContioneers are staying safe while doing so. As such, we want to be crystal clear that we stand against discrimination in all its many forms, including racism, sexism, normalism (body shaming) and other variations on fear and hate. We are dedicated to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all of our fellow nerd culture; regardless of race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or expression. Together we hope to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that celebrates our similarities and differences in a positive manner. Sci-Fi and Fantasy stories often show us worlds where we have overcome hate to build a better world, and they also show us worlds where hate and discrimination win out. It doesn’t go so well for those dystopian folks. At ConCoction, we choose to follow the path of positivity going forward. (We are also a certified 501(c)3 non-profit organization at both the State and Federal levels, so it’s literally illegal for us to discriminate.) So come on out and join our human-horse-fish hybrids and all the other mix and match Sci-Fi/Fantasy ConCoctions at our Con. This year we’re mashing up the 40th anniversary of both “Back to the Future” and “Super Mario Brothers” as we “Race Back to the Castle!” to save our beloved .. well.. Whatever really. Great Scott! See you in March! Cleveland ConCoction - By the Fans, For the Fans
Your Fandom Escape by the Lake Cleveland ConCoction 2025 welcomes AJ Matthews, Barbara Doran, and Becca Lynn Mathis!!! A J Matthews is a British author transplanted to the American Midwest, where there be dragons. Luckily, there is also Tea, homemade Digestive Biscuits, and marmalade. Barbara Doran is a New Pulp writer of SF and Fantasy with Airship 27. Her works include the Golden Dragon Series ( Claws of the Golden Dragon, Wings of the Golden Dragon and Tales of the Golden Dragon), Wu Dang: Fist of the Wanderer, and several short stories (Sinbad and the Island of the Puppet Master, Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Counterfeit Secretary and City in the Clouds). Born and raised in Texas, Becca Lynn Mathis has been writing stories and daydreaming about other worlds since she was a little girl reading books in the branches of the tree in her front yard. As she grew, so did her love of stories, so much so that she often got in trouble at school for writing them, even if her other work was already done. Welcome to Cleveland ConCoction!!!!! Stay tuned for more Author announcements!!!! Cleveland ConCoction - By the Fans, For the Fans
