Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What kind of convention are you? Are you a ComiCon?
A: We are an all fan run science fiction/fantasy/gaming/multi-genre convention with multiple focuses in art, programming/workshops, gaming, vending and more.
By not locking into one area of fandom, we as volunteers and fans can explore all areas of fandom.

Q: What is the ConCoction's policy on potential cases of harassment?
A: Please see our current anti-harassment policy; this is subject to review and change on an as needed basis.

Q:  I'm planning to cosplay at this event. What is the Convention's rules on prop and display weapons?
A: Please see the Hotel Approved policy on weapons here.

Q. What are your rules for the cosplay contests/Masquerade competition?
A: Information on the rules for the cosplay/costuming contests can be found under Programming > Costume Contest Rules.

Q. I'd like to invite a friend with a latex allergy to ConCoction. Their allergy is severe enough that if there are balloons present, they can't be in the same room. Are there going to be balloons?
A. We cannot guarantee an entirely latex free environment due to the possibility of attendees using latex in their costumes, prosthetics, and even accessories. Also, the ConSuite does serve bananas, which is also usually an allergen issue for people that have an allergy to latex. The convention doesn't normally plan on purchasing any balloons, but that's not to say the hotel or an attendee might not have them.
The best course of action we could suggest for them if they want to attend the con would be to make sure someone is with them who can check each room before they enter and to carry an epi pen with them at all times. It's not an ideal situation, but with such a large event it's the best we can assist with this.

Q. Does the convention have an Accessibility Policy?
A. Sort of - it's in flux at the moment. We are working on some of the details but all the answers we do have are listed on the Accessibility Policy page of our website. We will be continuing to update this as we gain more information.

Q. Does the hotel have an ATM onsite?
A. Yes, there's an ATM located in the main Lobby of the Bertram Hotel. ATM cash availability is subject to the servicer of the ATM machine.
